PERT® Positive Employee Relations Training

Positive Employee Relations Training™

PML offers several distinct on-site training modules, each of which involves experiential learning and/or mini-simulations. PERT: Positive Employee Relations Training® are interactive, on-site sessions tailored specifically to meet the training needs in a dedicated site or company and to provide union awareness education for healthcare and non-healthcare organizations. With each of our PERT: Positive Employee Relations Training® programs, participants learn:

  • About the issues and conditions that lead to union campaigns;
  • The various stages of a campaign;
  • Key aspects and concepts of the National Labor Relations Act in the US along with the current labor environment or important characteristics of federal and provincial labour laws in Canada.

PERT: Issues Identification and Action Planning™

Simulation Objectives

Identification of specific issues within your company that could lead to card-signing; actions to resolve the issues, and a closed-loop management decision-making process that involves assignment of specific actions, timelines and follow-up. The activity also mimics a ‘showing of interest’ NLRB hearing, during which signed cards are counted, and a description of how easy it is for organizers to acquire signed cards, as well as some of the tactics they use to acquire them.

Who Should Attend

This module is designed exclusively for supervisors and managers in the US and Canada.

PERT: PML Case Study™

Simulation Objectives

Harvard Business Review-like paper and pencil Case Study of a 30-day union organizing campaign whereby participants compete against each and the clock to define the best choices to make in the simulated campaign. The PML Case Study reveals specific strategies that will win or lose votes during a union campaign within the fictitious company. The key learning includes the impact of management actions made during the case study on votes in the simulated campaign to expose the consequences on votes of those actions.

Who Should Attend

This module is designed exclusively for your U.S. rapid response/”Jump Teams” or union-free human resource, operations, and logistics leaders.

PERT: Confidence Building™

Simulation Objectives

Raise the level of confidence of front-line leaders and managers when addressing questions or concerns about unions with employees. Small group sessions of 10 or less tackle specific behavior modeling as well as identification of issues, questions, and concerns specific to each supervisor or manager. These customized conversation-scripting, role-playing with feedback, and communications skills are essential while speaking with employees about union card-signing and remaining union-free.

Who Should Attend

This module is designed exclusively for your supervisors and front-line managers.
