Ryan Thorne is a Leadership Consultant for Positive Management Leadership, Inc.
Ryan’s career began with Fallon Ambulance in the metro Boston (MA) area. Upon moving to South Carolina in 2007, Ryan worked with Spartanburg County EMS as a paramedic. In 2010, Ryan founded Thorne Ambulance Service, one of South Carolina’s premier private ambulance organizations that provides wheelchair, Basic and Advanced Life Support services across eleven locations. Under Ryan’s leadership, he successfully grew the firm from a one ambulance operation to a fleet of 50 vehicles, serving 32,000 patients annually and earning the prestigious South Carolina’s 50 Fastest Growing Companies award (twice), marking six consecutive years where the company received a local and/or national award.
Due to his significant contributions to EMS at the community and state level, in 2021, Ryan was named South Carolina’s EMS Director of the Year. An industry advocate and national speaker, Ryan promotes leadership and advocacy in healthcare and continues his work as a guest lecturer at the University of South Carolina, where he works with graduate-level students.
After selling Thorne Ambulance in 2025, Ryan returned to public service full-time, serving as a Firefighter/Paramedic for Clear Spring Fire Rescue, in addition to providing consulting and advisory services to ambulance providers across the country.
Ryan completed the EMT program at Northeastern University in Boston, Massachusetts and attended Upstate EMS Council, where he earned his National Registry and South Carolina Paramedic. With a host of fire and EMS certifications and licenses, he was awarded The Pride of the Battalion Award, issued by the South Carolina Fire Academy in 2014.
